This template is used to display an information box containing details about any file formats that contain data saved on behalf of a player, such as saved games and configuration preferences. See Word Rescue Saved Game Format and DSIK Config Format for example use.

Valid parameters and examples are:

Parameter/example Condition Purpose Valid values
Config = Yes N/A Does this format store global configuration for a game? Yes if game settings are also stored in this format
Savegame = Yes N/A Does this format store one or more saved games? Yes if saved games are also stored in this format
Storing = Sound, Scores, Keys Only if Config = Yes What values are stored in this format? One or more of:
  • Sound - sound card settings
  • Scores - high scores
  • Keys - keyboard key assignments (what key does what action)
Where = Start Only if Savegame = Yes Where can you save? One of:
  • Anywhere - saves within a level are possible
  • Start - saves return you to the start of the level
  • Hub - Savegames are only possible on a hub location you return to between levels
  • World - saves return you to, or are only possible from, a world map

Elements = Score, items Only if Savegame = Yes Which elements are saved? A list of items such as: Level, score, items, difficulty, key assignments, health, etc. Do not include level or player position as these elements are implied by the Where value.
Games = {{Game|GameName}} {{Game|GameName}} N/A Name of all games that use this format Any wiki page name, as a parameter to the Game template

Default values are shown if the parameter is omitted, so do not use any parameters unless the value is known (most of the defaults say "unknown")
