I think RESOURCE.CFG might be used to control the number (or type?) of resource files in use. I thought it might have something to do with levels as the first byte is 0x08 and the largest level number is 7 (0x08 minus 1), however editing this seems to affect the graphics. Setting the first byte to 0x02 results in Stellar 7 starting up in EGA mode (16 colours) and setting the first byte to 0x01 results in CGA mode (four colours.) I'm not sure whether this is actually some configuration file or whether it is limiting the number of resource files available, effectively removing the VGA graphics and forcing the game to use EGA. -- Malvineous 10:14, 6 March 2012 (GMT)

Ah, just worked it out. First byte is video mode, second byte is sound card. Both are set by running -- Malvineous 10:28, 6 March 2012 (GMT)
